We are the oldest independent brewery in Buckinghamshire and the Chiltern Hills and have been brewing here since 1980. With over 35 years experience in brewing fine English ales our family run business combines age-old brewing methods using 100% British malt and hops.
We are passionate about brewing beers of the finest quality, ensuring natural and wholesome ingredients with an excellent provenance and which bear the classic Chiltern stamp of flavour and quality. Our brewing methods are efficient and very sustainable and our team are committed to offering you the best of our award winning ales with a friendly and reliable service at all times.
We brew one of the widest ranges of draught, bottled and premium bottle-conditioned beers of any small craft brewery in the UK, using the finest ingredients available. Our fresh hard water is supplied by bore holes in the Chilterns, packed with minerals and flavour. All our ingredients are 100% British, wholesome and natural and we only use malt and hops grown by British farmers – nothing is imported.
Our relationship with our Maltsters and Hop Merchants is well established since 1980, securing us the best of each year’s harvest.
Our beer calendar offers a selection of permanent, limited edition and seasonal beers perfectly matched to the time of year: from the lighter golden ales of spring and summer to the darker more robust and maltier beers of autumn and winter.
Four of our bottled ales have recently been formally certified as Gluten Free so can be enjoyed by real ale drinkers who are coeliacs or intolerant to gluten.
Alongside our traditional ales we use classic and new hop varieties and different malts to produce a great variety and range of beer styles. Innovative and on-trend beers like Colombian Coffee Porter and 2016’s draught Red Rye Ale add to a fantastic mix and choice which come highly recommended by our dedicated brewing team.
