2020 marks the 40th anniversary of our very first brew back in 1980. Throughout our 40 years, we’ve always prided ourselves on sourcing only the finest British hops & malts to brew first class, award-winning real ales that truly stand the test of time. This year we will be brewing a range of beers, both draught and bottled to mark this anniversary.

To start our 40th year we wanted to brew a beer that represented our unique heritage and commitment to innovation and authenticity. In our brewing archives we came across one of the most popular beers we have ever brewed – a beer we brewed in collaboration with CAMRA and Mr Roger Protz to mark the 40th Anniversary of the Good Beer Guide back in 2013. It was a dark ruby hue with a lusciously rich and complex malt base; it proved a hit with our customers and CAMRA supporters alike.

For the first in our 2020 series, we have recreated that beer in draught form at a quaffable 4.5% ABV (1045 OG). The five grains and five hops produce a big and bold beer with notes of cedar and raisins. Each grain and hop represent one of our four decades; the fifth is a nod to the future.

Collection Details

  • We recommend that you collect your beer as close to the drinking date as you can (1 – 2 days ideally – or same day if ready racked) to ensure best quality at the time of drinking.
  • Orders can be collected from 12 hours after placement (please note we are closed on Sunday).
  • Please collect your beer within normal shop opening hours (link to opening times).

What type do I need?

Can I settle the beer for 12 hours before serving? If yes, then order cask conditioned beer. If not then order ready racked.
